Governor Cellucci Announces Bay State Firm's New Product
6/20/1999 - Unveils Innovative Aerospace Technology at Paris Air Show
PARIS - Massachusetts Governor Paul Cellucci today announced a new grommet edging technology created by Device Technologies, Inc. of Marlborough, Massachusetts that will be used by aerospace manufacturers in building airplanes and helicopters. The innovative grommet edging is more reliable and cuts down production time on assembly lines.
"Device Technologies is an excellent example of a small, innovative company that is successfully competing in the world market and providing quality jobs back home in Massachusetts," Cellucci said.
"While the Paris Air Show serves as a wonderful venue for a large firm such as Raytheon to showcase its successes, it also provides an opportunity for Massachusetts’ smaller businesses to promote their products on an international stage."
Device Technologies, Inc. was started in a basement in 1984, and currently operates out of a 9,000 square foot facility with full Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval. In May, the company received ISO 9100 and AS 9100 certification, prerequisites for doing business in the international marketplace. The companyÕs clients include Boeing, Hewlett-Packard, Hughes, Lucent Technologies and Bombardier.
"Dedication and consistent conformance to customer needs has made Device Technologies a preferred vendor to customers throughout the world and in a broad segment of industries such as aerospace, banking, telecommunications, defense and general industrial products," said Sue Johnson, Director of Marketing at Device Technologies, Inc.
Device Technologies, Inc. success overseas is a result of the company’s collaboration with several of the CommonwealthÕs export development resources, such as the Massachusetts Trade Office, the Massachusetts Export Center and the Massachusetts Port Authority.
"I feel we are a poster child for how effective Massachusetts is in helping small businesses compete in the international marketplace", Johnson said.
Cellucci is leading a trade mission to France, Northern Ireland and Ireland from June 20 to June 25, 1999 to explore business and trade opportunities in the European market. Since 1991, more than 400 companies have participated in 25 trade missions led by the administrations, resulting in more than $1 billion in increased export sales and projected export revenue.
