Clip-On Fiber Protection – Cable Waterfalls

Radius Control Modules (RCMs) aka cable waterfalls offer a quick solution that prevent fiber macro-bends and data loss while also helping to control and manage the cabling.

Damage to fiber cables happens more frequently than IT managers would like to admit.  A fiber cable gets leaned on and kinked in the server room or it gets snagged while being snaked through a wall conduit. Simple everyday mistakes.

If the minimum bend radius of a fiber optic cable is not maintained, signal integrity can be compromised, which means that data can be lost. A host of downstream issues can be created like slower data, lower speeds, or at the extreme, network failure.

Businesses need to transfer data consistently and quickly.  This has driven fiber’s growth and transformed how networks are designed and installed because design engineers know that generally cable management -and maintaining a minimum bend radius in fiber in particular-  is critical.

DTi has created several Fast-Drop® solutions to help you prevent these problems and help data centers increase network agility, cabling density, and overall dependability while supporting solid system uptime and lower operation costs.

Seamless Data Protection

Standard Fast-Drop RCM

At the core of the system is the standard Fast-Drop RCM.  It is a versatile system that can be used as a single cable waterfall or combined to act as a spool or set up as an array.

Its patented clip-on mount design allows for fast and easy installation, saving time and money in new setups and refits.

The 321 Series fits standard U height racks, holds large bundles, and can snap onto edges up to 0.104″ (2.7mm). Added features include versatile, adjustable service loops and stackable options via its slotted side design.

High Sided RCMs

The RCM-High Wall/High Capacity—331 Series started as a customer request.  They wanted a way to handle larger fiber capacities.  The wall heights were raised to make this possible. It can control up to 96 fibers with a BICSI-recommended minimum bend radius.

360°Routing Module

The 360° Fiber Routing Module-FRM Series provides a comprehensive solution by combining four standard RCMs (321 Series) on an aluminum base mount, which allows techs to simplify fiber routing and service loop management with fast screw mounting onto racks or chassis.

Arrays – 321 Series RCMs

These can be custom built to your needs but come in several off-the-shelf configurations. They are designed to give manufacturers faster easier one-step cable routing and implementation onto standard racks.

Conclusion

Providing integration and reliability of fiber optic cable routing represents an essential part of sustaining data transfer for contemporary network infrastructures. Solutions like Fast-Drop® Fiber Radius Control Modules (RCMs) are designed to protect fiber cables from damage, avoid data loss, and simplify the IT department’s fiber cable management.

Using Fast-Drop cable waterfalls industry stakeholders will see higher cabling density, greater operational efficiency, and solid system uptime without increasing operating costs.
