3/2/1999 – MARLBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS, March 2, 1998 – The FAA has issued a directive to verify proper installation or to detect chafing or damage to certain rerouted bundles of electrical cable to verify that protective grommets are installed or to detect missing grommets or sharp edges. Grommets typically are made of plastic that becomes brittle in time and are retained by adhesive that is proven in time to glue line failure.

Device Technologies, Inc. Spring-Fast® Grommet Edging is a composite grommet that is technically retained not receiving any adhesive. It is not prone to failure. It has been extensively tested for shock, vibration, salt spray, immersion and is the preferred QPL listed grommet for Military Aircraft per MIL-DTL-22529/2, 8 February 1998. This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. Spring-Fast® is the chosen grommet in space vehicles, satellites, communications, computer, peripheral equipment, etc.
