1/18/1999 – Marlborough, MA – Device Technologies, Inc., a manufacturer of composite grommet edging, has received the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) endorsement for their Spring-Fast® Grommet Edging, a chafe-resistant surface that prevents frayed wires in new or aging aircraft.
The issue of aircraft wiring and passenger safety was brought to the forefront by the TWA Flight 800 disaster in which the arcing of frayed wires in a combustible atmosphere was thought to have caused the explosion. Spring-Fast® Grommet Edging is a composite made up of polymer encapsulated stainless steel with a sacrificial cushion that provides a smooth, nonconductive surface to protect wire and cable from abrasion damage.
Easy to install, the stainless steel core snaps-on instantly and locks into place without adhesives and dangerous VOC’s which can harm the environment. Spring-Fast® Grommet Edging conforms to FAR Section 25.853 “Replacement and Modification Parts” (b) (4) “Standard parts conforming to established industry of U. W. Specifications” per NASM22529/1 and NASM22529/2.
Device Technologies, Inc. will be exhibiting Spring-Fast® Grommet Edging at the U.S.A. Pavilion at the Paris Air Show, June 13-20, 1999.
